About Gothic-Rose

Personal Statistics:

  • Star Sign: Pisces

  • Hair Colour: This varies considerably, although it was black for several years. Now it is dark with red foils throughout. I *really* would love champagne pink hair but then I wouldn't have a job... so I guess I'll save that thought for my retirement years.

  • Eye Colour: Blue Grey

  • Height: 5'6"

  • Complexion: Extremely pale. I burn very easily, which is one of the reasons I dislike summer.

Where do you live?

I live in Australia in the (excessively) sunny state of Queensland on the Gold Coast. It's pretty nice here - our beaches have to be close to the best in the world (if not THE best), and our climate is awesome. Unfortunately I am not really a "beach" person - I haven't set foot on the samd here since around 2002. Summer gets a little too hot and humid for my liking, but I really love our mild winters. You can read more about the Gold Coast here.

What's your occupation?

I did a few years of clerical work after I left school until I decided to do something a little different and trained to become a nurse. I didn't think about all the wonderful jobs I would get to do … it's amazing what you can get used to! I have no idea how I passed my exams - I chatted to friends the whole time we were in class, I rarely studied, and my assignments were always rushed at the last minute. But I still managed to do pretty well - I always passed exams first time, and even scored distinctions. I spent a year working in a busy 24-hour medical centre, then worked part-time as a theatre nurse for several years. However over this time my computer skills become more and more valuable, and I have slowly been transformed into a database administrator, IT trainer, and am now working in project development.

What do you like?

  • I love to dream (whilest awake and whilest asleep), and my imagination always seems to conjure up extremely vivid - often very strange - ones. The more vivid the dream, the more I enjoy it. I also dabble with Dream Interpretation.

  • I am a hopeless romantic, and I love tragic love stories.

  • I used to take karate classes, and am hoping to start up Aikido in the future.

  • I enjoy roleplaying, and usually play AD&D once a fortnight.

  • On a dark, rainy day I enjoy curling up and reading a good novel.

  • I love going to the movies... I try to see a new movie at the cinemas every week.

  • My idea of a great holiday is camping out at an isolated beach. I also love cold nights, and can sometimes be found sitting in the cold doing nothing but looking up at the stars.

What music do you listen to?

Evanescence, Type O Negative, Metallica, Offspring, The Living End, Rob Zombie, Ozzy, Creed, Poison, The Angels, AC/DC, The Radiators, The Cure, The Cult, The Doors, Whitesnake, Queen, The Screaming Jets, The Choir Boys ... that's just off the top of my head. I don't enjoy rap, house music or dance/techno in the slightest. As I grew up in the 80's, I have a huge soft spot for 80's music.

What colours do you like most?

I love dark, rich colours. My preference lies towards black and red - I am also rather fond of the colour pink.

What sort of clothing do you prefer to wear?

Almost anything made out of velvet and lace. Boots are definitely my footwear of choice, and I sometimes wear gloves. I am a big jewelley fan and wear lots of necklaces and rings, and heaps of earrings. My favourite pendant (below) comes from Alchemy Gothic.

What foods do you like most?

I love seafood - all types. This is by far my food of preference. Pavlova and Trifle are my favourite desserts.

What drinks do you like most?

I am a Coke addict! I have given it up several times in my life, suffering long, painful withdrawals, but I always go back to it sooner or later. It's my caffeine fix, seeing as I don't drink Tea or Coffee. I am currently on one of my "no-coke" kicks, but I doubt that is going to last long. As far as alcohol goes, I dislike beer, wine, and spirits - I am strictly a liqueur drinker. Kahlua and Milk is by far my drink of choice. It's very sweet and goes down so smoothly ... a little TOO smoothly at times. It tastes too damn good LOL And I can make a killer fruit punch ;-)

What qualities do you like and dislike in others?

  • I admire people who have the courage to be themselves, and to express themselves no matter how "different" they might be, and who are not scared to speak their mind.

  • Honesty, loyalty, and unconditional acceptance are very important to me.

  • I admire people who express themselves in unique and individual ways.

  • I am my own person and I feel that anyone who doesn't like me for who I am isn't worth knowing anyway.

  • I dislike phony people - especially liars. That goes double for people who play headgames and/or take advantage of other people.

  • I have no time for pretentious people who think they are better than everyone else. People are people, no matter what colour their skin, what god they worship, or how much money they earn.

  • Prejudice, for whatever reason, is a real peeve of mine. I believe that everyone has a right to live their life how they want as long as they don't try to force their beliefs on others and no-one gets hurt by it. That goes for religion, lifestyle choices, race, sexual preference and anything else I just left out. Why waste your life on hate when it is so hurtful?

What qualities do you find important in a significant other?

  • Someone who understands me, even when I am beyond understanding.

  • An honest, caring, and trustworthy person with deep emotions, and who is not afraid to share them with me.

  • Someone who I can share my every thought and desire with without feeling any shame or embarrassment.

  • Someone who knows how to make me smile, especially when I don't feel like smiling.

  • Someone I can open up to about anything and know that even if he does not agree with me, he will accept my thoughts and respect my beliefs anyway.

  • Someone who I know I can trust to be there for me when I need him most.

  • Someone who loves me unconditionally. And Yes, I do have a "Significant Other" :-) But I will save that story for later as it deserves a special section all of it's own :-)

What is the most difficult thing you have ever done?

Hurt someone who loves me.
